Tweet Let’s face it – social media have changed the way in which we interact with our peer groups and update those in our personal networks about important aspect of our lives. We have new ways in which to demonstrate our approval of other people’s news and activities. “Retweeting” allows us to easily rebroadcast any posting we value to our own audience. We can even make comments, giving us the flexibility to add something to the message or express a contrary view from the original. Facebook offers some useful ways to express... [Read the full story]

Tweet I drive a diesel powered car. Please don’t hassle me about “pollution” this and “particulates” that… It is a very reasonable and economical vehicle – so there! Amongst the budget reviews and cut-backs that are affecting us all at the moment, there is one “money saving initiative” that hits us derv drivers directly where it hurts… Or at least where it smells. A few years ago (perhaps it was 10 or 15) diesel was seen as a “wonderfuel” that could save money and the environment. The quality motor manufacturers... [Read the full story]

Tweet I love listening to music. When CD players came out, we bought one and despite the shock of paying over £10 for an album, steadily built quite an impressive collection – much of which now in boxes or gathering dust, I’m ashamed to say (yes, I know, car boot sales, bird scarers, Amazon - who has the time!). And even after that collection was split, I find today that I have something like a couple of hundred CDs. Image by Gilgongo via Flickr But now, do I buy CDs or should I work out how to listen to my music digitally.... [Read the full story]

After a week’s holiday in Spain…

Tweet …where the weather was good and sunny with no rain I’m glad to be home. Even though the holiday was ok, the pool wasn’t that warm and the sea was chilly, the beach a bit scruffy even though they cleaned it daily. Anyway, I digress. I’m back home to loads of junk mail stuck through the letterbox, cold, wet and windy weather and hundreds of emails, text and voicemail messages. Why oh why don’t people listen to the message “I’m away till 6th November if it’s urgent contact Paul on 0845 130 xxxx instead of leaving... [Read the full story]

Christmas Chocolates…
Tweet Even before the kids went back to school, earlier this month, the supermarket aisles were moved around to make room for the run up to Christmas, and then the chocolates appeared. Selection boxes! Really? That is shameless because we all know they won’t...

Tweet Not long ago I heard an item on the radio about how live music venues are disappearing from central London. Recently I’ve been listening with interest to similar laments about how our high streets are losing their individual character to a virulent plague...
